The Read-A-Thon is a joyful, week-long schoolwide program that encourages children to read more while raising critical funds for Carmel Del Mar. It is our only PTA fundraiser this year and 100% of the proceeds go directly toward educational materials, enrichment programs, classroom support, and experiences that benefit every student.

How it Works
1. Register your Reader AND Earn 1 Ticket
Head to cdmpta.pledgestar.com to sign up your child. Register by Oct 6 to earn bonus raffle tickets and win more prizes!
2. Rally Your Team AND Earn Another Ticket
Send at least 5 pledge requests to family, friends, neighbors—even coworkers! Supporters can donate by minutes read or give a flat donation.
3. Read, Read, Read!
From Oct 6–10, encourage your child to read each night—every minute counts!
4. Log Those Minutes
Track your child’s nightly reading online to qualify for awesome prizes!
5. Win Big!
The more your child reads and the more your team donates, the more they can win—raffle entries, prizes, and classroom parties await!
WIN A POPSICLE PARTY FOR YOUR CHILD'S CLASS!
If every student in your child’s class is registered on Pledgestar—They earn a class-wide Popsicle Party! No donations required. No reading logs needed. Just register to help your class win!
How to Participate
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Set up your student’s Carmel Del Mar Read-A-Thon fundraising page!

Ask your friends and family to sponsor your student by sending 5 email requests! Then share on social media.

Have your student track his/her reading. Set a timer to track their reading outside of school, then record the minutes read on your child's Pledgestar page under the tab "Reading Log."
What counts as reading?
Any time your child spends reading outside of school time during the Read-A-Thon week counts towards the Read-a-Thon (after school, homework, bedtime, etc.) This includes individual reading time and being read to by an adult, sibling or friend. .

Why does the PTA fundraise?
The CDM PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a parent-funded, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to positively impact, support and enhance the overall learning environment for all students at Carmel Del Mar School. Your student's reading raises money to fund these amazing programs and activities as well as ALL of our awesome school assemblies! We are fortunate to have an extremely generous and supportive community at CDM that allows us to bring the magic to your child's school experience. Thank you!
